Information/Instructional Design Examples

Apple Iphone Icons
  • These simple yet effective apple icons used for the apple iphone are able to transform complex information into simple and manageable data. The use of colurs, simple graphics and "grid like" layout of the icons make the apple iphone an extremely easy phone to use. The icons are simple yet beautifully done to show what and where in the phone personal data or information is kept.  

London Underground Tube Map
  • This London Underground Tube map has extremely complex and important information. Designed by Harry Beck, the use of coloured geometric lines, structured text and basic symbols representing tube stops, interchanges, disabled wheelchair access etc the user is able to easily navigate their way around the city of London. The very important use of a legend in the bottom of the diagram gives the map logic. The legend demonstrates what colours represents what tube line and the key symbols enable the user to know further information about the tube stations.

Lego Mario Man
  • This  instructional design example uses simple colours, small arrows and a 2D illustration to enable the viewer is able to understand which lego parts fit into one another. There are no numbers and the language although foreign is minimal, however the user is still able to understand what components fit into one another with great clarity.
